Hello, I just completed assembling my initial PC and am facing complete power problems. There are no lights on the motherboard and I’m confused about what’s wrong. I reviewed the checklist from the forums but still encountered difficulties. The only step I haven’t taken is testing the PSU, though I don’t have a reliable method for doing so. I verified all connections and confirmed the outlet functions properly. When trying to boot with a screwdriver, the motherboard wouldn’t power up either, suggesting a possible PSU issue. I watched tutorials on setting up the board with an SSD CPU and RAM, and a friend assisted with the remaining steps, but I’m unsure if any of those parts are problematic since I’m not seeing fans, lights, or any power reaching anything. I’ve listed my build details below for your reference.

Build specs:
- Intel i5-12600k 3.7 GHz, 10-core processor
- Cooler Master ML240L RBG V2, 65.59 CFM liquid cooler
- Gigabyte B660 AORUS MASTER DDR4 ATX, LGA1700
- Corsair Vengance RGB Pro SL DDR4
- Western Digital WD_Black SN750 SE M.2-2280 NVME SSD
- EVGA RTX 3070ti 8GB
- Corsair FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX mid tower case
- Corsair RM850x 80+ Gold

Ensure the 24-pin connector is removed, keep the remaining components connected, and insert the paperclip. If any device powers up when you switch the PSU on, it’s likely fine. If nothing activates, the problem may be elsewhere.

I've verified all PSU connections carefully. Double-check each pin, make sure the 24-pin, 8-pin EPS, and PCI power cables are securely attached on both the PSU and motherboard/GPU. It might help to reinsert them all and reseat them. Confirm the power switch is activated and the PSU cable is firmly connected at the wall and PSU. Test with a different outlet to eliminate interference. If issues persist, consider disconnecting all PSU cables from the motherboard and accessories, then use a paper clip to connect pins 4/5 together on the main 24-pin plug. If the PSU powers up, the fault is elsewhere. For more details, refer to the guide: https://www.silverstonetek.com/downloads.../PSU-Paper Clip-EN.pdf

Ensure the power switch is activated on the PSU. Do you have any indication of the motherboard light being on?

There are no lights and there is no power at all, which adds to my confusion. Also, the PSU switch is currently on.

You can use a staple, tape, or any other fastener as a substitute for a paper clip.

Paperclip functions optimally. For use, a suitable wire piece should be available, and the staple must be sufficiently thick to be effective.

Used a wire from an Arduino kit I owned but got nothing. Likely the problem lies with me. Planning to visit the micro center tomorrow for replacement.
