We believe this board is quite costly and outdated. Budgetnew options offer better value, delivering more performance while being significantly cheaper. The 1800x model still costs around $100 used, whereas the 5600g version runs about twice as fast and costs a bit more.

Adding more pins helps reduce wire losses, which lessens heat buildup and improves power delivery—though it’s not essential. The 1800 model draws roughly 100–120 watts, barely exceeding the 8-pin capacity. PCIe slots are fed by a 24-pin ATX connector. Because the ATX standard is outdated, only two 12-volt wires fit in the full 24-pin unit, limiting total power to around 216 watts for most motherboards. In reality, you can push more, but it’s not advised. For workstations with many GPUs or PCIe devices, filling all three x16 slots is possible, though risky. A video card might draw up to 65 watts on 12V and 10 watts on 3.3V, so three cards could reach 195 watts. Adding fans pushes the total over safe limits, risking overheating or damage. Hey there, I understand your concern. Spending such a large sum for something with a limited lifespan seems questionable. Three thousand dollars is quite a lot, regardless of background. Having spent three years in Frankfurt Am Main, I’ve seen how unstable the Deutsche Mark can be, especially with current inflation. I’m sure many in this forum would be willing to offer advice, but first you need to figure out what you truly want from that machine—whether for gaming, work, study, or something else.
