I recently noticed the 12700kf available for €190. Should upgrading from my 12600kf be a smart move? Perhaps selling the older model could bring in good cash and cover a €50 upgrade. Would the effort be worthwhile? I don’t feel the need for extra CPU power, but the price caught my attention. Right now I use it mainly for gaming with an RTX 3070, aiming for 1440p at 144hz. What are your thoughts?

It mainly hinges on your specific needs. If you don’t require the upgrade, you can skip it. I recommend setting aside funds for the RTX 5070 when it becomes available.

I agree with @vanpuffelen (that is a top tier name btw). You won't really see any increase in gaming performance. You'd probably be better of getting a better cooler (if you don't have a good one already) and tinker a bit with your current CPU to get more performance. I'd also strongly suggest saving the money to get a better GPU.

Suggest it if you have the budget for the 50 you reference. The 12700kf offers two extra performance cores (four additional threads) and a larger L3 cache. The L3 cache may improve gaming performance.
