You need to switch Boot Mode to UEFI, turn on the TPM and enable secure boot. Once that is done, your Windows 11 install can start.

I just checked it. Yeah, those three things are already fixed and working right now. When I run the upgrade from W10 to W11, I'll watch how it goes.

OK. I found out what I was doing wrong. The UEFI was in csm compatibility mode, which isn't GPT. I used diskpart to turn it to GPT and installed W11 Pro fresh. This time the pgm let me keep going. Thanks skynetrising for helping me dig deeper into secure mode.

Turning on CSM stops the system from running in a safe mode that locks things down. GPT means how hard drives are divided into sections. If you saw an error message when trying to install something, and told us so, we'd have noticed that problem sooner instead of later.

I had trouble figuring out what the installation should have shown. The only thing I saw was just a . file. It wasn't very clear for me though, so I am still trying to understand things better.
