You just assembled a new PC and it’s not powering on. The motherboard briefly shows some RGB lighting, and the CPU cooler screen shows a general warning. I’ve verified all connections and removed everything except the CPU and NVMe drive to see if missing RAM triggers an error. Using the Q-Flash Plus button updated the firmware, which made the PSU fan spin once and the motherboard’s red light activated, but nothing else changed. My guess is the board itself might be faulty. Any advice or tests you could suggest would be helpful.
Specs: Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ATX Ryzen 9 7900X 2 x 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB, Gigabyte WINDFORCE OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 2 TB Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE LCD, Corsair RM850x (2021), 850W 80+ Gold.
Could there be an issue with the motherboard? It seems possible to remove everything from the case and inspect the CPU, motherboard, and RAM stick. A CPU re-seat could also be beneficial. Simplify by focusing on any possible short caused by contact with the case.

The pump connects to the cpu_fan header. It seems it wasn’t receiving power from the motherboard since other components like RGB, error LEDs, and RAM RGB aren’t functioning.
I don't see the other power 8 pin (and 4) cable(s) connected. If your motherboard was handled properly, everything should be okay. The issue might be elsewhere. Or you may have damaged it by installing the BIOS on an unstable system—the pump connects to the Sys Fan 4 header instead of the CPU fan header. Updated November 24, 2023 by leclod
It seems the fan is already covering it. I had the 8-pin CPU cable connected, and before fully disassembling the computer, it was running smoothly even after I attempted a BIOS update. A video suggested compatibility with either setup. Since I need a CPU fan to start up and don’t have another port available, this looks like the most viable choice.
Weren't you beginning with the pump plug into the cpu_fan header which might cause instability? Didn't you attempt to refresh the BIOS using the pump plug into the cpu_fan header, potentially damaging the motherboard? Typically fan headers support up to 1A while pump headers can go up to 3A. If the board is faulty (I'm not sure), then you effectively destroyed it. Edited November 24, 2023 by leclod
Link the pump tach cable to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard. - Corsiar: "How to: Install the ELITE LCD Upgrade Kit for your ELITE CAPELLIX liquid coolers" The motherboard was damaged before I attempted a BIOS update. I spent two hours trying to unplug and replug cables before even thinking about flashing a new BIOS. It seems I’ll probably return the board or try swapping it in at a store, as Fasauceome recommended.
