This ASUS ROG B550-A is not turning on.
You just received a ROG B550-A motherboard and installed it, but pressing the power button doesn’t work. What bothers you is that all USB devices connected to the back panel are powered, yet the system doesn’t respond. I’ve checked the CPU power connector, 24-pin power connector, front panel headers, and RAM. I updated the BIOS using BIOS FlashBack because my 5600 isn’t supported on older versions. I already had an ASUS Prime B450M-K, but it was outdated and had several dead USB ports, so I wanted a fresh board. Appreciate any advice.
The BIOS update appeared to function correctly. I installed the update using the BIOS FlashBack feature, placing the file on a flash drive and letting the motherboard update automatically. Regarding the power button, pressing it doesn’t activate the PC; the system remains completely off, as if there’s no power source.
I would remove all front panel connectors and use just the power button connector for testing. Inspect the backpanel ports to ensure no metal part of the backpanel is touching them. Take the motherboard out of the case and verify the screw terminals inside are correct, confirming you haven’t missed any mATX screws. Check the motherboard outside the case (be careful with wiring and avoid short circuits).
This turned out to be the problem. I neglected to respond in the chat. After removing the motherboard, there was still a standoff from the mATX mount. Once I took it out, it started booting normally.
