If you're thinking about the 11700, it makes more sense to purchase it now rather than later. Prices for Intel chips tend to rise over time, not fall, and only drop when they become obsolete. If the industry is planning an upgrade in 2 or 3 years, it's probably a smarter move to opt for an i5-14400 or similar for $200 and a B860 for $150 instead of spending $300 on an i7-11700 in 2025. Everyone is dealing with the same choice now—8400s and 9400s—so upgrading the whole system might be more beneficial than investing $350 in a 9900k.

I probably won’t upgrade to anything like the 11700 because it’s expensive. For gaming, I don’t need a high core count either. Maybe I should go with the B560 from MSI if it’s only around $20… sounds reasonable?

It's accurate. I have 3340 RN and believe upgrading to a new PC would be better. I'm considering the Gigabyte B560M DS3H AC. It looks like a solid choice, right?
