The issue seems to occur when trying to launch a specific app to view a .png file, especially following recent October/November updates. It may be related to changes in file handling or compatibility settings.

Have you explored the updated Microsoft Photos? Or consider downloading "Microsoft Photos Legacy" from the app store.

It might be a software issue. Try running SFC/DISM, reinstall or reinstall the viewer, or use IrfanView instead. You can also launch the app directly without opening it through a specific program.

I understand you can switch to other programs and access Windows Photo Viewer without using OpenWith, but I'm attempting to make it your primary image-viewing tool again.

The current version is "Windows Photo Viewer." Stick with it; don’t go through the registry changes—there’s too much risk without any real advantage.

Check the version by running the tool and observing the output. To update, download the latest version from the official source and reinstall it.
