Hey everyone, just received a call on the house phone from someone claiming to be from a Windows service center. They said my PC has serious viruses that could let others access and damage the data on the hard drive. They asked me to open the Windows Event Viewer and pointed out many errors and warnings in the "information" section. They then connected me to a senior technician who used TeamViewer to take control of the PC and showed me that Windows Defender was expired, displaying numerous access attempts from foreign computers trying to connect. They advised me to renew Windows Defender and mentioned the cost was £80 for a year. I told them I’d call back later, wanting more information before paying. Could you confirm if this is genuine and whether my PC is actually at risk? Or is this some kind of scam? It seems suspicious, and I’m unsure how they obtained my phone number. They also said they had an issue with my PC but didn’t mention which one specifically, which is confusing. Thanks in advance.

this is a common scam. if they have indian accents (not trying to be racist) then yes definitely lol. i saw lots of youtube videos about this they get your phone number randomly by calling random numbers i think

I would check the computer for viruses and malware as well, since you allowed him in
