With an ESP8266 running Tasmota, everything functions smoothly. The PWR LED's GND pin acts as a switch; cutting the circuit triggers a delay, disables the relay, and then restores it.

You're asking for clarification. The worst-case scenario is addressed, since I have a web interface for managing the relay. I also have a permanently on laptop turned into a smart home hub, allowing me to switch the relay manually whenever needed.

It operates on Windows, which means a restart doesn't halt the system like in Linux. I mentioned that the situation is tough, but I can try using the web interface—or even connect via TASMOTA emulation with Alexa.
