Hello. My MSI Leopard 10SCXR laptop has an issue where the external screen powers off automatically after a set time. When this happens, the connected audio devices vanish and Windows defaults to its built-in Realtek sound card. I can’t find the external display in the "Select a sound output" menu, even when I try. The only solution is a full system reboot. This problem also appears when connecting via TV. Even more frustratingly, after booting up, the TV’s audio device disappears entirely. I need to restart with the TV connected to get it to recognize the device again. It’s worth mentioning that video works perfectly in both cases. I’m using Windows 11 Pro 64-bit, and this behavior is identical on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit as well. My external display uses a Mini DisplayPort to a DisplayPort cable, while my TV connects through a Mini DisplayPort to an HDMI adapter and then an HDMI cable. I don’t connect the TV directly to the laptop’s HDMI port because it lacks HDMI 2.0 support and doesn’t handle 4K at 60Hz. I’ve used "extend" mode for the external display and "second screen only" for the TV, but neither restores the audio devices. I suspect the problem stems from the laptop relying on its built-in Intel graphics by default, switching to a dedicated Nvidia GPU only when needed—like during gameplay. When the system powers off, the screens briefly flicker before returning to normal. I believe this happens because the audio settings reset upon shutdown. The workaround I’ve tried so far is setting the display timeout to "never," but it’s not ideal since I sometimes want to keep the PC running without displays for extended periods, such as during large game updates. Anyone have encountered a similar issue and found a better solution? Thank you.
