Hello everyone, I recently designed a custom water cooling setup for my Ryzen 5 3600 processor. Back then, I experienced elevated CPU temperatures even though the GPU performed well and wasn’t overclocked. Now that I’ve upgraded to a Ryzen 5 1600, which isn’t overclocked either, my idle voltages remain very low—ranging from 0.894V to 1.417V according to HWMonitor. During idle, the temperatures stay low. However, under stress tests, voltages rise to a steady 1.46V, and temperatures climb rapidly, reaching 68°C within just a couple of minutes. I’ve noticed this trend with the third-generation Ryzen, which typically shows higher idle voltages and lower loads. I’m currently experimenting with a manual voltage adjustment of -0.180V to manage temperatures, but it only offers slight relief. I’ve shared these issues before and haven’t found a clear explanation for why my CPU stays hotter than the GPU even when both are under load. I’m considering a Carbonaut thermal pad from Thermal Grizzly after some more testing. If anyone has insights or solutions, I’d appreciate it. Thanks for your help!

What are the highest temperatures you can achieve? You can expect to increase your temps by a few degrees.

Yes, unless the thermal paste application is the issue. I understand how it functions and how to use it properly. I've applied thermal paste more than I can count, but it's the last thing I used until recently. Additionally, my temperatures can reach up to 75°C once the loop is running for a while.

it seems the issue isn't with the app itself as long as thermal paste is used. the key factors are spreading, size, and consistency—anything from a big blob to a rice grain matters. the main concern might be poor contact between the cooler and the surface.

Acting as a waterblock adds an extra layer of intricacy compared to your typical CPU cooler. I even tightened the screws with pliers for optimal security, though that might seem excessive.

This block, mounting whise, maintains the same structure as your usual AIO/CLC or aftermarket aircooler. It still requires four screws to secure properly, or there might be an oversight. Regarding maximum temperatures after prolonged testing, I’m not aware of specific data—please check your system’s manual or consult a specialist.

75 sounds fine could you run cinebench r20? i just did one run voltage goes up to 1.417 similar as yours cpu tems reach 62°C (idles at 30-35) given i run an AIO i guess your temps should stay a little cooler right? my ambient is about 20°C btw

I understand it's just a 240 radiator, but it's thicker. You can also find YouTube videos showing people using cheaper aluminium kits from EK and achieving good temperatures, even better than my custom loop.
