Wife is itching for me to put together a white-themed rig.
I need some help starting to collect ideas. It seems white components are harder/more expensive to come by, but we’ll see how far we can get.
I have an R7 5800x3d that I can use, but obviously that locks me into AM4 (and pci-e 4.0, right?).
I don’t have any experience with AMD gpus (I use a 3080 atm), but they seem to have a wider selection of white cards.
This is a half-hearted request for build help. Again, to see if I could cobble something together without breaking the bank. Let’s say…$1500…to be revisited if needed.
I’ve spotted the
NZXT H5 Flow
as a solid candidate for a case.
RGB and is not required as we both hate it. If the gpu has it, fine, but I’ll be using non-rgb fans in the case/cpu.

The wife chooses the case and focuses on it.
There is no essential link between the GPU and the processor.

I own an R7 5800x3d and it works fine, though it definitely restricts me to AM4 (and PCIe 4.0, yes?).
That said, based on your situation—location, budget, and preferred options—the price of a white AM4 board could match what you'd pay for an AM5 platform, giving you more flexibility.
Here are some suggestions:
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/mother...&Y=8200000
If you're in the USA but it's out of stock, consider buying used—it’s not recommended for 2025 with AM4.
For GPUs, XFX offers white cards, as do ASRock, MSI, Asus, Colorful, and Gigabyte. The NZXT H3 Flow is an option if you prefer a matx build. If you can access Fractal's Epoch, it’s a solid ATX chassis choice. Asus also has the A21 model.
I recommend starting with a case, then adding components. To cut costs, wait until you’ve saved enough for the whole project.

I'm not sure if PCI-E 5.0 is supported on any AM4 boards. Doh! I should have mentioned I was in the U.S. Things would be simpler if I switched to AM5 or whatever Intel is using now, but that would add a processor to the mix. It's clear the market isn't very friendly when it comes to pricing. Hmmm… I'll check your list and let you know. Thanks.

PCIe 5.0 isn't necessary for the 5090 model. It only reduces performance by about 5% in a 16 lane PCIe 3.0 slot. Here’s what I would consider:
For the AM4 build, suitable white motherboards and RAM kits are scarce.
