Hi everyone, the question started with Terraria's split-screen feature on PS3 and Xbox 360, but not on PC. By version 1.3.1.1 it now supports full controller use, and possibly more split-screen options are coming. I wonder why many game developers aren't emphasizing social gaming more? It feels strange since having a PC means sitting in front of one screen while others play on separate devices.

Most computers have a single mouse and keyboard as well as sub 30 inch monitors that sit behind often space constrained desks. Most consoles for split screen gaming have 2 or more controllers and are often connected in living rooms with seating for 3 or more people and televisions 42 inches and larger. I don't think there's really much in the pros column for designing split screen type PC games. We don't even see all that many turn based games that aren't intended to be used over a network with multiple PCs.

Two gamers with one CPU could handle this, but you'd need two monitors.

It takes more effort to add a feature that few players will actually use. Time is precious for game developers, and for publishers, time equals money. They usually skip co-op options because it isn't widely adopted.

I remember reading about a 5k display that actually consisted of two panels stacked vertically, each connected directly to the GPUs without any gaps.

It's new to me, but I'm curious about what you're referring to.

The embedding here is really helpful compared to other forums I've used. It's much easier and more convenient than the auto-embed feature, which often caused issues. I think it wouldn't work with two inputs because you can get away with using just one connector.

Yes, it uses two distinct inputs. The division runs in one specific direction.

He mentioned a half-width bios option, which makes me pretty sure it splits vertically at the middle.
