Hey everyone, I’m dealing with this small lag issue in my PC that really bothers me. Most games run smoothly, usually hitting 60 FPS, but every 8 to 10 seconds I notice a brief stutter—like a half-second pause or even less. It looks like the game freezes for a fraction of a second, cutting or chopping. This happens in games such as Call Of Duty: WWII, COD:MW 2019, Arkham Knight (though it seems to have had fixes over time), Quake II (especially the old version with Yamagi patch), Far Cry 3 and 4. It’s less noticeable in COD: MW2 REmaster, but definitely not in FIFA 17 or Forza Horizon 4—where everything runs perfectly.
My PC specs are an i5 13600K, RTX 2060 with 6GB RAM, and games are installed on SATA or NVMe SSDs. I don’t think the settings are the issue—it should handle those titles well, even older ones like Far Cry 3 from 2012 or Quake 2 from around 1997.
I’ve had similar problems on an older machine for years before upgrading, but now I have a modern monitor and mouse. So maybe it’s something to do with Nvidia Panel Settings? Anyone have any ideas or solutions?
Usually it's the opposite here—Intel platform seems to handle it without issues.
Consider turning off all E-cores in the BIOS settings and observe for any performance issues.
I haven't tried all the games yet, but after trying them after turning off E-cores, it seems to function. It's odd having to go through such steps. I thought I'd focus on work apps, productivity tools, and new releases, but now I'm curious about casual gaming, including older titles. If this could help anyone: after fixing the microstutter by disabling E-cores, some games still felt choppy. I checked the frame rate graph in the BIOS or Riva tuner instead of in-game settings. That worked well and made the performance much smoother. It helped with older games like FC3 and FC4.
