Just an update but: Although the card still shows the physical link state as down, I managed to disable the multichannel virtual nic mode, this however didn't change much and the option to change the personality of the card is still not present within controller configuration.
It was resting. Odd that there aren't more options available, but that’s just the way it is. If it doesn’t have one, then it’s not present. You notice the smell—right now, your best move is to look for a way to adjust the settings, wherever you can. My understanding isn’t really helpful here since we’re diving into the details of this card and the events from the past five years since I last played an OCE card.
Thanks a lot for your guidance! After reviewing the 170-page Emulex product manual, I realized the best approach is simply re-flashing the entire card. This is unusual since the 14xxx series emulex Oce cards let you adjust settings in the PXE boot configuration.
