My Gigabyte z390 Gaming SLI comes with a regular 4-pin RGB header built into it, which connects to a strip whose LEDs are blue for aesthetic consistency. The internal LEDs are white, but I need the strip under my desk to appear white instead. Based on how these systems operate, the 12V pin supplies power to all LEDs, and when the red, green, or blue pins are grounded via the onboard controller, the corresponding LEDs activate. This means I’m trying to modify the wiring so that only the red and green terminals on the strip connect to the blue pin on the motherboard, making the strip white. I’m concerned about potential damage to the RGB controller if I proceed without confirming everything works safely. Also, I worry that shorting the red and green terminals might reduce the brightness of the white light from the strip. I’m hoping this setup will function without issues, but I want to be sure before plugging it in. Your advice would be appreciated.
