My move to PC gaming was a bit unexpected, but I quickly fell in love with Call of Duty (2019) and the Astro C40 controller. When the PS5 launched, the controller didn’t work on PS5 titles, so I decided to build my own high-end rig—featuring a 5900x, 32GB LPDDR16, three Gen 4 SSDs, and an EVGA 3080 ftw3 Ultra. Now I’m exploring visually impressive games, even though I’m not a Star Wars fan. The first one from 2017 is stunning! I’m curious about other visually striking titles and would love recommendations if anyone else reads this. I own all the COD games, Star Wars Battlefront 1/2, Jedi Fallen Order, Cyberpunk, and am excited for F1 2022 next month.
I enjoy the style of Resident Evil 7, 2, and Village a lot. It's really appealing. Very enjoyable too. Strongly suggest it. And the performance is top-notch—you can easily run at 4K with 60Hz while keeping all the visuals active (just without ray tracing).
Consider these options:
- Tomb Raider (2013 and its sequels)
- The Witcher 3
- Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal
- Alien Isolation
- This War of Mine
- The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Red Dead Redemption 2 offers adjustable settings with ease, even at higher resolutions thanks to DLSS support. It delivers a compelling experience, much like a real-world news report—players shared screenshots on TV, mistaking them for actual landscapes. Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition stands out with its improved lighting engine using real-time ray tracing, making the environment feel dynamic and authentic. The visuals are impressive, especially when enhanced with high-res textures and modern lighting. While not as technically advanced as the latest titles, it shines in art direction and world-building. Skyrim could benefit from a weather and lighting overhaul, plus texture packs for towns and natural elements. The scale and detail are breathtaking, though modding Bethesda games can be complex—many players find it challenging to get even basic features working. Overall, the game excels in atmosphere and scale, making it a standout in its genre.
Star Wars Battlefront (2015) stands out as one of the most lifelike games ever made. Few titles match its realism even today. Unfortunately, the gameplay feels too surface-level. Kingdom Come Deliverance seems like a better choice. It launches with stunning visuals and some classic RPG features.
If you love racing titles, check out Forza Horizon 4 and/or 5. The Far Cry series consistently delivers impressive visuals. Some players dislike it and point out issues with the AI—it's a video game! I really enjoy this series. The first three games have standout stories, while 4 and 5 impress with their graphics. I haven't played 6 yet. Blood Dragon is also a great way to pass time. Subnautica (either version) offers engaging gameplay as well. Despite strong criticism, Just Cause 3 and 4 provide expansive maps with interesting physics. Steam also hosts fun mini-games such as Mark of the Ninja, Outland, Transistor, and Brothers.
It's quite a "wow" experience, really. The visuals are stunning.
