These temperatures are normal?
Yes, though I might think about a slight overclock for that CPU because it's reaching 100%, but since you don’t have a GPU installed it’s handling everything at its best!!! It’s not my place to assume your setup, but you really should upgrade the CPU (use EZ Tuning Wizard in BIOS and pick Box Cooler when asked, not water cooler) and you’ll need a GPU soon!! You already possess all the necessary components to boost your CPU by 35-50%, if you need assistance with overclocking just let me know, it’s quite straightforward nowadays, especially with the ASUS wizard.
What the ... Did I just read??!
That's normal if the CU hits 100%... It's a stress test!!! SO it pushes hard on it...
Also, there's no real need to overclock the 8700K, it's a real beast.
Overclock the 8700k is for pleasure/play with it to squeeze every MHz possible.
Don't use the EZ tuning in BIOS, it always overvolt the CPU (too much heat).
No way you can squeeze 35-50% of performance from stock..
Easy calculus :
The 8700k has 4.4 on all cores or 4.7 (if MCE enabled). we call it "Base" for later.
We call "Overclock" the CPU frequency after bios modifications.
If the CPU performance is considered perfectly scaled with the frequency, this gives you for a 5GHz overclock:
1°/ base at 4.4GHz
Perfomance gain rate = (Overclock-Base)/Base = (5-4.4)/4.4= 13.6%
2°/ base at 4.7GHz
Perfomance gain rate = (Overclock-Base)/Base = (5-4.7)/4.7=6.4%
