Looking at the options for a new 13" laptop, I realized I needed to compare CPU choices. What I found online suggested that the 10th generation Intel chips aren’t doing well, with issues like high power use and overheating. With Gen 11 gaining more experience, I’m curious about how much they improve over the previous generation. It seems most models available today don’t offer a Ryzen option, which is a concern for me since I prefer that. If my laptop came with a dedicated GPU like the MX 350 or 450, would that add any extra weight? My workload is mainly network tasks, emails, and spreadsheets—just a bit of gaming here and there. Since both Gen 10 and Gen 11 CPUs are available, and Gen 10 is significantly cheaper, I suspect the earlier generation had notable flaws.

The 11th generation is essentially the same as the 10th with a slight speed increase. There were no major changes overall—just a bit more heat, higher power usage, and slightly improved battery life. You're looking for a Ryzen model, as it offers better performance, cooler temperatures, and longer battery life.

No 10nm chips exist for the 11th generation. They’re significantly improved over previous generations like 14nm++(+++).

They're still lagging behind, but they're improved over the 14nm generation. Still, Ryzen outperforms them in every aspect.

Mainly, I'm checking laptops with silver casing, 13-inch screens, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and a minimum of 512 gigabytes of SSD storage.

The purpose is to highlight various laptop models such as HP Envy X360, Lenovo ThinkPad 13, Asus ROG X13, Microsoft Surface, Acer Swift 3, and all AMD systems. Remember, a metal build doesn't automatically mean superior quality.

Sure, I wasn't sure how they compared to AMD. I just got a laptop for my mom with a 4500U and it's really quick.

It clearly outperforms most budget Intel alternatives and even surpasses many of their high-end H-series processors.

Consider the HP proBook series. It’s what I found quickly, but they appear to suit your requirements. They’re quite costly, though.

They're decent, but Gen 11 really stands out.
