Hi, I own an I7 7700 with two 8GB 2400 series RAM modules and it's paired with an EVGA 1080TI. The issue is that my CPU stays at full speed during games, while the GPU only uses about 30%. I think my motherboard might not be up to date. Two RAM slots have power but don't recognize the memory when installed. Also, in games like PUBG I notice big frame spikes. Should I replace the motherboard or get a full upgrade kit? Can a motherboard actually slow things down? Thanks.

I think the motherboard might not be the problem. The 7700 should work fine with a 1080 Ti. I’m not sure about the PUGB situation now, but it used to be straightforward. My Pentium G4560 handled it back then. How are the GPU temperatures? Could you share samples from other games showing CPU and GPU usage? I’d like to confirm if the CPU is the bottleneck based on your description.

The 7700 is a less powerful version, not the high-end 7700k and not easily upgradable lately. If your motherboard is unreliable, I’d skip the repair or swap. Go with a 5600 plus a solid board for under $250, use your existing RAM and the 1080TI to stay competitive. Antonline lists it on Ebay for $120 after discount.
