I bought a new mATX case to free up space after my old mid-tower. While searching for mATX X570 boards, I found only one that fit my needs but was too expensive and lacked the features I required. I ended up purchasing a Gigabyte B550-pro p. Since I’m moving from an X570 board, should I be concerned about power delivery? Specifically, the change from a 12+2 phase VRM to a 10+3 phase. I don’t intend to overclock and usually only use more than 100W on the CPU for brief periods.
I'm talking about more than just the VRAMs—build quality and available features matter too. It’s surprising how many X570 boards are rushed and released first. The only (I managed to locate) mATX X570 is the ASRock X570M Pro4. 1. Not overclocking 2. 100W+ short-term usage The board works just fine, and because it’s an early X570 model, it includes a chipset fan.
I'm not sure what you're getting at. You switch between claims about X570 boards being superior and others saying they're inferior. In reality, the X570 isn't inherently better—it depends on your needs. You only benefit from it if you require IOMMU support, multiple Gen 4 SSDs (though this varies), and high IO performance. For most users, the B550 is sufficient. Unless you're investing heavily in a premium board (250-300+), the B550 usually performs better. The B550 Taichi offers excellent features at a lower price, while the X570 has minor improvements like Gen 4 M.2 support but lacks key features like a POST code or full x8/x8 compatibility. The real choice comes down to budget, features you need, and reliability.
I run the 5900X on a B550 and it performs exceptionally well.
