The main processing should perform exceptionally well when compared to the 11400, which can likely manage a 3070 Ti or higher.
it is a really good deal for the 12400f, next best thing in the same price range for all i know is the ryzen 5 3500x going for ~180$ here in indo, too bad theres no b or h board Also the used market here sucks ass Its either 1156, 1366, 1155, 1150, or go straight to a modern platform cause apparently x79, x99, and 1151 are stupidly overpriced, try searching for an ivy i7 or newer and youll see that they are overpriced to sht, the e3 xeons are reasonably priced till after haswell aka v3 Maybe intel knows the used market here sucks so no wonder why we get an early release, the b and h boards would be nice though
still, it misses the e colors which were really impressive, even on a high-end desktop CPU, since you could load OS tasks and basic functions onto the E cores, which is a big disadvantage compared to other CPUs.
If you plan to shop at AliExpress, consider purchasing the x79 or x99 models and skip the quadcore. Opt for the x58 instead, as there are broken DFI3s with an X5650 and a kit with 990x + 12GB RAM + 5870 + x58a, which has corrupted BIOS. At least the x58 is reasonably affordable for a 6-core platform, roughly matching the price of a 2600K + P67 board. Still stuck on 775; I was aiming for 1156 but the sellers were very unresponsive and took an unreasonable amount of time to reply or just ignored messages. Probably better to buy more 775 boards until I find a better deal on a 1156, 1366, or even a 2011 board. It’ll take a long time before I get a proper gaming PC.
If Intel hadn't imposed restrictions that hurt performance—such as limiting cache or reducing clock speeds—the removal of the E cores wouldn’t affect most users. Their value lies mainly in boosting productivity, since even Windows 11 isn’t fully optimized to leverage them properly. This is why gamers often disable the E cores during gameplay. For those on a tighter budget, these CPUs become a rare gem in a sea of outdated 3600s and 3300X models.
