The price difference wasn't the same. Getting a 12600K was significantly pricier compared to a 5900X just three weeks prior.

That's quite unexpected.

The price in euros was approximately €430 for 12600K, and €380 for 5900X. I checked online for similar items globally, but found limited options.

I increased the resolution from 5800x to 5900x and saw only a slight change, with the latter being a bit cooler. If it hadn't been available for free, I wouldn't have done it.

Expected outcome makes sense—8 cores in one CCD compared to 6 and 6.

I've tried both models. The 5900x is much easier to handle. My 5800x kept increasing the fans, which was really frustrating. The 5900x stays calm and quiet. At 1080p with CPU-heavy games it outperforms the 5800x. Shadow of the Tomb Raider runs smoothly at 1080p. With FTW3 Ultra 3080 Ti 1080p to 1440p, it hits 5800x at 211fps and 175fps. Horizon Zero Dawn on Ultra with FTW3 Ultra 3080 Ti gives around 138fps for both 1080p and 1440p. In older, tougher games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey the 5900x edges out the 5800x slightly. For older titles it's similar. At 4K it matches up. I got rid of the 5800x since it didn't feel as good compared to my i9 10900k, and the 5900x became my top choice.

The FPS difference will likely be minimal, probably unnoticeable. The additional cores in the 5900X become useful when you're not just gaming. Prices are around $384 for the 5800X3D and $387 for the 5900X, both sold by Amazon. I’ll go for the 5900X with those extra cores.
