Usually it isn't until I upgrade that things work properly. It should last at least a few years if the temperatures stay under control. As long as things don't get hotter, you shouldn't need to replace it.

It really varies by system. Some I'll keep for years, while others I'll perform maintenance or upgrade RAM, which means taking my cooler off. It should last a long time on its own.

That's noticeable. Your 8700K was running cooler in the past, around 32-33°C, but now it's about 35-36°C during idle. It might be a mix of factors—thermal paste quality and room temperature.

I achieved it on my setup for its fifth anniversary... but the results were essentially the same. Keeping dust away is crucial.

I've observed that after 2-3 years, the paste starts to dry and loses adhesion when you apply pressure to the motherboard, such as during RAM replacement.
