Hello,
I had to dismantle my computer and its graphics card water block. After reassembling everything, the temperature readings were extremely high. The GPU would shut down due to overheating. My CPU is functioning normally, so I suspect the issue lies with the graphics card or the water block. I tried installing a standard air cooler for the GPU, which resolved the problem, though the fan was very loud. Now I’m considering the connection point between components. The thermal pads appear worn, so replacing them might help. Where can I purchase additional pads or thermal paste? Also, what are some recommended thermal pastes?

Always replace the paste when the cooler is taken off, even briefly. When considering replacing the thermal pad with paste on GPUs, verify the cooler space, as it might require a pad to maintain proper clearance.

Remove the thermal pads. Wipe the surface with alcohol, then place a tiny amount of thermal paste on the chip. Secure the cooler back, it should work now.

Alright thanks for the response. I did change the thermal with some arctic silver 5 for just the main processor but left the pads. I was hoping that was fine but guess not. I ordered some thermal paste and should be here soon. I hope it works.
Thanks for the info guys

Don't forget to keep the paste and pads together, as the pads are significantly thicker. The paste is nearly too thin, which makes it hard for the cooler to stay flat.

After a certain age, it becomes dry, remove those pads.

I applied the K5 Pro thermal paste to the VRAM and Arctic Silver 5 for the main chip, then reassembled everything. Temperatures stayed below 45. Thanks for the assistance.

Regarding k5 pro, have you purchased the 20 gram or the 30 gram version?
I came across this video some time ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgrEyd93yHI
I was considering buying the one displayed in the lipstick packaging.
Has anyone used it before?
Is it simpler to apply compared to using a scrapper?
