Thermal Paste
Thermal Paste
I believe I applied just the right quantity of paste. It covered the entire IHS evenly as much as possible.
I wanted to clarify a few points from my request. The paste didn’t come out easily from the sides while fitting the cooler. Some applied it directly to the side of the IHS and the PCB rim before even placing the cooler, during the spreading process with the spatula. Additionally, I didn’t apply enough paste, so noticeable amounts would have oozed out when the cooler was positioned on the CPU.
Unlikely since they’re usually placed in a case, making the socket at a right angle to the ground. The paste doesn’t flow much and will solidify over time on the side with the IHS. Don’t stress—just ensure you have enough wipes for future changes like paste, cooler, or CPU next year. (It’s suggested to swap paste annually, but if performance stays steady you can skip it.)
