I've been enjoying smooth gameplay for a few days and it's been amazing. Today I noticed that games running at 143fps are stuttering, dropping to around 30fps. This happens consistently when the framerate is locked. My frame times look normal, my CPU is handling well at 85°C, and I know the temperatures are high but wonder if the throttling temperature is higher. I can't find any details on the website about this. The manufacturer lists a max temperature of 95°C, and I'm waiting to get a cooler installed. Are these stutters connected to thermal throttling? I don’t have any hardware monitoring tools that track the Ryzen core clocks, so I haven’t been able to log anything. MSI AB+ HW MONITOR and others aren’t showing the data I need.

It doesn’t look like thermal throttling; it seems to begin when temperatures exceed 90. There could be an issue with RAM loading or storage performance.

I think there might be an issue because of the XMP settings. I’ll turn it off now and check the results using JDEC.

It seems the RAM issue wasn’t clear. I left the motherboard uninstalled, but it’s still present. The TMPIN4 value is consistently around 85 when idle.

Focus on the CPU temperature instead of TMPINs. At 58 it's okay.

I've observed some interesting behavior: When my 5600X runs in the default setting (Performance Boost Mode), it tends to slow down around 80°C. Voltage spikes can reach up to 1.35V, which pushes the CPU to about 85W despite its 65W rating. At this heat, clock speeds drop from 4.6 GHz to around 4.2 GHz, especially in games or high-frame-rate tasks. It seems default mode causes the CPU to throttle both for power and temperature reasons. Many overclockers try to fix this by locking in specific voltages and speeds via BIOS or AMD Ryzen Master. For me, keeping the speed at 4.6 GHz and voltage at 1.275V helped maintain temperatures below 80°C during stress tests, improving my Cinebench R23 score from 10482 to 11513. While this approach involves some overclocking, it appears to protect the CPU's lifespan without causing damage. The processor still runs smoothly with Core Performance Boost enabled, staying around 200 MHz and 34°C when idle.
