Hello, I was searching for games and discovered Destiny 2. I liked it, checked the requirements, and realized I should perform well. I started playing but noticed my FPS is very low. This seems unusual since in previous benchmarks with similar hardware, I achieved 85 to 95 FPS in any setting, while here I’m stuck at around 50 or even 30 FPS. It doesn’t look like a hardware issue because my system is new (about six months) and I haven’t experienced performance problems with other games.

My setup includes a GTX 1650 Super, an i3 9100F, 16 GB RAM at 2666 MHz, and Corsair CV Series 550W 80Plus Bronze. In the screenshot you shared, it shows me playing while running at 30 FPS. I opened HWINFO to investigate; temperatures are normal, but the CPU is consistently near full usage. I don’t think the CPU is the problem because I’ve played more demanding titles than Destiny 2.

P.S.: I don’t have an FPS cap in the game—V-Sync is off, and at maximum settings it should run smoother.

What graphics configurations are active? Is resolution scaling being applied?

On this PC, according to theory, it should perform better. I tested High and Medium settings, but only a slight improvement of around 10-15 FPS was noticed. It shouldn't be that significant.

It seems there is a discrepancy in the background CPU usage reported. The screenshot shows 30%, but the Task Manager doesn't confirm it. After three tests, all indicated the same result. I removed unused programs and restarted the CPU during the tests.

You're likely wondering if Chrome was still active while running the test, as it could affect performance. It's possible the same issue caused problems in Destiny 2 too.

2 problems!
#1: CPU isn't reaching base frequency. What temperatures are you seeing while gaming? Which cooler do you recommend? Are your cases fans suitable? Check the latest BIOS settings.
#2: RAM isn't running at the right speed. Are the slots correctly installed (only two available)? Make sure XMP is enabled and you're using the newest BIOS.

I'm predicting the original poster's CPU is throttling due to thermal issues. The all-core turbo boost should reach around 3.8GHz with the standard cooler, though I'm uncertain if an all-core boost exists for that i3 model. Additionally, the i3-9100f appears to restrict RAM usage to 2400.
