I am experiencing a peculiar audio problem that I think relates to the operating system or drivers. I am using W11 Pro. When playing music or watching videos, the sound sometimes disappears abruptly. The mouse also appears to become unstable, as if the computer is about to crash. The unusual aspect is that adjusting spatial sound and toggling "Windows Sonic for Headphones" either on or off resolves the issue. If spatial sound is disabled, turning it on fixes it; if enabled, disabling it does the same. I have tested this with onboard audio (Realtek) and my usual setup using a Scarlett 2i2, but only during video playback or music in specific apps like Edge browser or Spotify. This behavior hasn’t been reported before. Have you encountered similar problems? Also, I have turned off all other audio devices except the Scarlett, yet the issue persists.

Ensure the most recent motherboard drivers and BIOS are applied. Disable any additional audio control software beyond the primary ones.

Everything is current. It's a fresh W11 setup, and I just installed a new 2tb SSD recently. The BIOS is up-to-date, and all drivers are the latest versions from manufacturers instead of older ones on the ASUS Mobo support page, like chipset and GPU drivers. I used the Realtek driver from Asus, but Windows indicates it's the newest. I removed the Realtek driver completely because I don't really need it. All my audio connections are via the Scarlett 2i2.

I discovered two more AMD audio devices in the device manager that seem connected to sound output from the GPU. I turned them off immediately after making the change and haven't experienced any issues. Fingers crossed.

I think the problem might be linked to opening or changing tabs in Edge. I disabled hardware acceleration and still didn’t see any improvement. This is really frustrating.

if the problem doesn't persist across various browsers, it's probably due to faulty software.

I believe the issue is solved. I fully removed all audio drivers and restarted the PC, letting the built-in audio rely solely on the Windows driver. After that, I reinstalled the Focusrite drivers for the Scarlett 2i2. I'm unsure if the built-in audio is functioning correctly since I won't be using it, but I think the problem with the Realtek drivers was likely the cause. It remains a mystery, but I managed to fix it without any major hassle.

When using the Scarlett, it may be more effective to disable the internal audio in the computer's BIOS.

I notice you're referring to Scarlett and owning an 8i6 3rd gen. Could you share this information?
