Hello, I recently overclocked my i5 6600k a few weeks back and achieved a stable clock speed around 4.6ghz. Over time, the performance has steadily declined, leading to occasional crashes once or twice a week. Currently, it’s at 4.1ghz, and anything above that causes the system to freeze. I understand silicone degradation can affect stability, but this seems to happen much faster than expected. The processor operates at a high voltage range of 1.4-1.45V, not under extreme loads, so peak temperatures around 70 degrees appear normal in my opinion. At 4.6ghz it was running at 1.38-1.40v, which wasn’t particularly high either.

It appears the board is quite old, likely from a period before significant VRM improvements were made.

i'm not entirely confident, but i just got it and i thought it might be possible to overclock. it seems like it's about six years old, just like the cpu. if i check the bios, the voltages look okay. the lowest i've seen is 4.8v.
