I observed an unusual clicking noise from my PC recently. After inspecting, I cleaned the case fans and cleared the dust. When I turned it back on, the sound persisted but my performance felt noticeably quieter. It seems something might be obstructing a fan, though I wasn’t sure. Could you offer some guidance?

You're referring to a ticking sound often caused by fans or spinning discs. It's best to address one at a time—either disable them completely using software settings or physically stop their rotation by lightly pressing on the fan hub until they cease spinning.

My guess is it's your PSU fan. If that's the case, don't open your PSU—it's not safe. Just send it back. If isolating the noise is necessary, you might need fan control software; turn off all fans one by one to identify the source. Or check your HDDs.

I'll check if I can handle that using my software. I haven't completely eliminated each fan yet. I considered the PSU briefly. I plan to eliminate the fans first.

Sorry for the delayed response. I figured out yesterday that one of the intake fans at the back was likely faulty—cleaning didn’t help. I’m not sure if I should try fixing it or just replace it. I swapped it in with my old cooler master fan, and the noise stopped completely. The new fan is louder than the others, so I’ll need to get a matching Corsair model. Thanks for your advice—it was spot on!
