Specs: 10900k Asus Extreme mobo 1200watt plat PSU I purchased this kit from Gskillz (F4-4000C17Q-32GTZR). It is 4000mhz and it has a timing of 17 17 17 37 @1.35v (produced in 2018). This kit can't overclock even if I change the voltage to 1.50v. I tried it at 4000 and 3600mhz with no good, so I let it run at 2933mhz, Some guys suggested to change some settings other settings other than the ram volt, but I am really after using auto OCing from the XMP. This kit wasn't listed compatible on the mobo's ram website. PS, I tried the same kit in another pack and I got the same result. There is another ram kit very similar to it, but it was listed compatible with the mobo according to Asus's website. This kit from Gskillz (F4-4000C15Q-32GTZR). Same frequency but it has a tighter timing of 15 15 15 36 @ 1.50v (produced in March 2020). I really think that if I buy the second kit, the xmp still won't work because I don't think that these 2 ram kits differ in components. So are there differences other than the timing?
Additionally, both sets indicate compatibility with the Mobo on the Gkillz site, which seems incorrect...
Adjust the bios settings and set the VCC and SA voltages between 1.1 and 1.2. Test the configuration, then progress to 3200 using XMP/DOCP and gradually increase to 4000.
It's unclear why the XMP wouldn't function even if it were marked as compatible. The issue might lie elsewhere, not just in compatibility.
technically anything over 2933 is not guaranteed. but the imc should handle it just fine. updating the bios helps with ram compatibility, and since this is a new platform, a bios update will probably help a lot.
The VCPO and SA were configured for auto, with VCPO above 1.2 (around 1.29) and SA over 1.1. I managed to achieve consistent performance at 3200MHz @1.35V while playing games. I believe additional testing time would help. It's odd you don't reach the advertised speed even though your motherboard supports it...
