My memory can reach up to 2666mhz and both my motherboard and CPU seem compatible. There doesn’t appear to be a BIOS setting to adjust it, and I can’t even lower the clock speed if needed. It’s a budget prebuilt board. Thanks for your help!

They generally don’t allow memory overclocking and only adhere to the JEDEC standards specified for the unit. You’re probably fine.

I have an i7 6700 and a compatible ASUS motherboard. I can verify the part number if necessary. My understanding is that the stock RAM runs at 2666 MHz because it was originally clocked there. However, I purchased a used 16 GB kit, which now operates at around 2111 MHz. I’m aware it supports 2666 MHz as indicated in the BIOS, but it doesn’t allow me to adjust it.
