There is an unusual problem with MSI Afterburner.
Afterburner is running with one of the original black and green skins, using a large version that occupies most of my screen. I’ve experienced occasional problems over the past couple of years with different GPUs. When I exit a game and return to Afterburner to check my readings, the interface shrinks to about 25% of its usual size. It displays a pink or light purple border and becomes unresponsive, requiring me to close it from the taskbar. My main worry is whether this indicates an Afterburner crash, possibly resulting in lost custom fan curves for my GPU. This issue has occurred multiple times with my 1080ti and now appears with my new 3080. It often resolves on its own eventually. I plan to capture a screenshot during another occurrence.
I give up. How do I attach a screenshot here? I captured a screenshot of my desktop using Afterburner, then saved it as a file in my pictures. When I tried to copy it, pasting it here didn’t work.
I discovered the answer.
In Kingdoms of Amalur re reckoning, I was checking the resolution menu and found a fullscreen tab. The settings were off, but once I switched it to disabled, the Afterburner interface returned to its normal size when I left the game. Trying borderless window also resolved the issue. I expected it to keep the taskbar at the bottom, but it didn’t. The game fills the entire screen. I’m still puzzled why exclusive mode causes this problem.
