I tried to reach out for advice but had to ask. I have two laptops connected to the same network, located in different buildings about 150 feet apart. One is at my home desk and the other in my workshop. When working on the shop floor, Chrome Remote helps me edit CNC files while still being in the workshop. I can copy the updated file from my desk computer to the shop PC. Both laptops run Windows 10 or 11.

Everything functioned smoothly for several years until I replaced the data drive in the desk computer a week ago. After that, connecting from the shop with Chrome Remote only works in one-time access mode. The desktop computer still appears in the remote access window but is grayed out. When I launch Chrome Remote on the workshop laptop, the desk computer shows it’s ready without a code, yet it remains grayed out there.

Anyone have suggestions or guidance on this issue?

I also installed the device into Chrome Remote on the desktop PC a third time, and this time it functioned correctly.
