There is a weird issue with the second M.2 SSD coming out of an Omen laptop.
I have been having a weird problem with my 2023 Omen 16 gaming laptop. It had a lot of space in the second drive slot when I opened it up to put in a new hard disk. That worked fine for about five or six months. Then, after that, I took out the battery just because I needed to fix something with my touchpad (which is another story). But then what happened was, even though I wanted to get the drive working, I also couldn't use it in the second slot. The problem isn't showing up in the BIOS at all, and neither does it show up in Windows Disk Management. I tried a few things: formatting, repartitioning the drive using another PC, still doesn't show up. I used a different hard disk, reseated the contacts, swapped the drives back and forth between slots, and cleaned them out. Even if you just put a single drive into the second slot without anything else connected, the laptop won't even start or post anything at all. I didn't touch any other parts inside the laptop, so I don't think I broke it myself. My best guess is that something in the BIOS settings got reset when I turned off and on again, which changed things negatively for me. Since HP's built-in BIOS tools are limited to normal users, checking this option might be impossible right now. Do advanced modes exist for my model? I don't think so. I am not ready to return the product yet because I need it every single day anyway. Plus, I will probably just buy a bigger SSD soon and put it in the first slot instead of the second one. But I still want to know what happened or try to find a fix!
