I recently replaced the built-in Intel graphics with a Gigabyte RTX 4060 LP, swapping the original USB input on my HP TE01-1020 running Windows 22H2 ver. 22621.2861. I also transferred the HDMI cable from the monitor to the new USB port of the RTX. The speakers aren’t producing sound, but the monitor is. In the Control Panel, under Hardware & Sound, managing audio devices, it shows the speaker icon next to "Realtek[R] Audio" is disabled with a black down arrow. The monitor’s icon displays a green checkmark (PA278QV, Nvidia High Definition Audio, Default device), indicating it’s active. I’m unsure how to reactivate the speakers’ audio output.
Do you have any speakers connected to the motherboard? Disabling HDMI sound in the Nvidia control panel might resolve the issue. This problem usually occurred 6 to 8 years ago. I have found the solution. Despite installing the correct drivers for the new card and connecting the cables properly, I encountered an issue because I didn't follow the right steps: Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage audio devices>Playback. In Playback I noticed the monitor was set as the default sound source. I switched it to RealTek speakers...and everything worked now. Now video comes from the monitor and stereo audio from the speakers.
