You're seeking further advice after experiencing repeated issues with your Zenbook 14's Wi-Fi connection, especially during work hours. This problem has occurred several times over the past few days.

Your budget is around $1200 maximum, and you're open to exploring refurbished units, open-box options, or outlet deals.

You're considering a notebook in the size range of 13 to 14 inches.

You prefer a 1080p screen resolution.

You need a portable laptop, not a desktop replacement.

Your battery life requirement is at least 12 hours, preferably with a 4-cell battery setup.

You don’t require gaming capabilities; just standard productivity features.

You have various tasks in mind, such as web-based work, light graphic editing using tools like Gimp, Inkscape, and SketchUp.

You need a minimum hard drive capacity of 256 GB, with 512 GB being ideal.

For purchasing suggestions, you mentioned interest in Newegg, MicroCenter, Amazon, Dell Outlet, and Lenovo Outlet.

You’re looking to keep your laptop for 4 to 5 years or longer.

You don’t require an optical drive; DVD ROM/writer or Bluray ROM/writer are acceptable.

You prefer brands like Lenovo and Dell for mobile devices, though I’m not excluding others entirely. My ASUS issue seems isolated, but I’m prepared to return if I can’t find a reliable alternative daily.

You’re based in the USA.

Please share any extra details you think might help.

You're finding it tough to narrow down your options on Newegg. It seems the site is filtering you too much, showing only a few choices that don't quite fit your needs.

Have you checked if your laptop is connected to the actual wifi or your home network elsewhere?
I own an Asus ROG G15 and regularly use various Ubiquiti devices at home and work. It uses Cisco Meraki, but when I brought my laptop to my brother’s house, he also used older Ubiquiti equipment. He had to adjust his settings before connecting.
I purchased an MSI laptop in 2013 that I still use, but switched it to an Asus in 2021. Both my brother’s and mine have worked perfectly without network issues.

It appears the main issue is meeting your specs for a device under 3lbs with more than 12 hours of battery life. The only laptop that comes near this is the $1,475 ThinkPad X1 Carbon:
https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/t...2tp2x1x1c9
It’s a bit over your budget but fulfills all your technical needs. Storage and RAM are modest, yet affordable external HDDs and 8GB of DDR4 RAM should suffice for your work. If stretching the budget makes sense, this model is likely to address your concerns – it’s also a brand you’re familiar with.
Other options will either be too heavy (T-series ThinkPads and Dell Inspirons) or have shorter battery life (most laptops max out around 8 hours).
Refurbs are worth looking into, but buying these older models often means dealing with weight or power consumption issues. Open-Box sales can be unpredictable, and outlet deals require careful timing.
Good luck,
GreyCatz.

I wouldn't focus too much on searching for an ultra-light laptop, as it often leads to higher costs and compromises in battery performance. A larger battery is necessary for good endurance, which usually means bigger and heavier components. Additionally, cooling efficiency and processing speed tend to suffer in compact designs. The Dell XPS and Lenovo X1 are among the better slim options, but you shouldn't expect significant battery life without making trade-offs in other areas like speed, dimensions, or screen brightness.
