Hello,
I own an XFX Swift RX 9070 XT White. The GPU emits a noticeable crackling noise especially near the I/O bracket when under load.
Turning on the device and gently pushing the DisplayPort cable inwards halted the sound (the noise wasn’t coming from the port itself).
When I lightly pulled the GPU shroud around the fan toward the motherboard, passing through an empty PCI slot, the noise ceased completely—applying a bit more pressure silenced it further.
If I push the shroud back slightly, the noise returns.
The sound resembles the crackle described in a Reddit thread, but differs from coil whine.
Could you identify the source of this noise? Is there a more permanent fix available?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X
CPU cooler: Thermalright Assassin King 120 SE
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M Aorus Ax Ice
Ram: 32GB Crucial Pro DDR5
SSD/HDD: WD Blue SN5000
GPU: XFX Swift 9070 XT White Gaming Edition
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GT 750W, 2 months old
Chassis: Asus Prime AP201
OS: Linux x86_64

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
I have an XFX Swift RX 9070XT White in an Asus AP201 with a B650M Aorus Elite Ax. The GPU makes a crackling sound that is noticeably heard near the GPU's I/O bracket when at load.
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
Pushing the DisplayPort cable inwards stopped the noise (although the noise does not emanate from the port).
That would mean your connection was improper prior.
I lightly pulled the GPU shroud surrounding the fan towards the motherboard, reaching through an empty PCI slot, and the noise stopped completely - doing this with a small bit more force has silenced the noise since.
Please don't tinker with a PC and it's innards while it's powered up and running, unless you're looking for trouble.
Pushing the shroud back lightly, the noise can be heard.
Might want to pass on an image of the shroud you speak of, or perhaps a video with commentary and illustration while the PC is turned off. We don't want you to end up with an electrical mishap.
The noise is similar to the crackle
in this Reddit post.
It is distinguishable from coil whine.
+
What is the noise? Is there a better, permanent solution?
Instead of using someone' else's predicament as your own, please pass on a video with audio of the noise you speak of.

Thank you for your response. I have adjusted my update to better clarify the situation for other viewers.
The temporary changes in the DisplayPort cable only caused brief noise, likely due to adjusting the GPU's I/O backplate.
I need to be more explicit that these actions were performed when the computer was powered off:
By gently pulling the fan housing (shroud) through an empty PCI slot toward the motherboard and restarting the PC, the noise was manageable under load for a short period.
After turning it off again, I applied a stronger, steady pull. The noise disappeared during extended testing at load.
I also tried pushing it in the opposite direction lightly while the computer was off. When the load increased, the noise returned more quietly but only briefly.
I worry it could come back and potentially harm the GPU or cause further damage without knowing the exact reason.
The linked post correctly describes the audible "crackle" above the coil whine. I’m hesitant to trigger the noise again and regret not recording it when it was noticeable.
