I’m working with an Asrock b450m-hav r4.0 and the GPU slot is detached. It doesn’t appear to be the main issue. The system boots normally for a short time but then powers off after 15–20 minutes, showing only a black screen. It only turns on when I disconnect and reconnect the GPU cables and power it back up. All components except the motherboard function correctly in another setup with an Intel i7-6700k. I have an R5 5500 in this machine; it worked before I swapped out the cooler for the stock one because my Noctua NH-D15 didn’t fit. I’m trying to get help so I can run Windows 11.

Start by looking at the CPU temperatures. Consider replacing the cooler again. If nothing else has been altered, the cooler change is probably the main issue, not the GPU clip.

I also found a damaged resistor on the right side near the GPU port.

Welcome to the forums! Could you clarify what you're referring to? Are you talking about the retaining clip? It sounds like more than just a black screen—LEDs off and fans not spinning usually point to a power supply issue. Since you recently changed the CPU, it might help to re-seat it. The PSU appears to be around ten years old. You could try triggering a shutdown by running Furmark and Prime95.

I also attempted to launch Steel Nomad on 3DMark, but it crashed immediately.

They continued testing on a different platform featuring a more powerful CPU despite its lower TDP.

It’s hard to see clearly, but the resistor on the top left appears to be damaged.
