I can slightly increase my GPU's speed, but beyond a certain limit, when I run a stress test, the software freezes and displays the Windows message about a problem causing the program to stop functioning properly. This occurs within 30 seconds, often within the first few seconds. All drivers are current. MSI 1050 Ti Gaming X 4G, AMD FX-6300, Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 4.1).

Your GPU is having issues, seems to reject your changes. You should revert to the previous state.

When you push the limits beyond safe levels, the system reaches its fundamental clock speed before failure occurs.

Thank you both, I was expecting everything to freeze or shut down, but I had never heard of this occurring.

No problem. Usually pushing clocks too far on a GPU will only crash the application or game that is causing the GPU load, I have also seen crashes with directx errors instead of the general error you got.
An unstable CPU or RAM overclock is usually when you see things like system lock up or a watchdog timeout blue screen. A system shutdown usually only occurs if the CPU or GPU is dangerously overheating, or you have a bad power supply.
