Hi all, I was looking into the specs for the I5 4690K and the GTX 970. The recommended temperatures were 72.72℃ (73℃) for the I5 and 98℃ for the GTX 970. I was curious about my cooling setup—specifically if using a Hyper 212 EVO (CPU), Accelero Extreme III (GPU), and fan cooling would be sufficient. If I were overclocking and playing demanding games like Fallout 4 or GTA 5, would my components overheat or would performance drop?

Yes, you've got good cooling for running those high-end games even when overclocked without any issues

I increased my 4690k's speed on the EVO 212 without issues. I don't understand your concern—just overclock, run a stress test, and monitor temperatures. Results vary from person to person.
