My internet performance noticeably drops when starting a game, showing some odd patterns. I've been testing League of Legends as the primary platform for this issue. My connection remains stable across all devices and computers, with smooth browsing and video playback at high quality. However, entering a game triggers significant problems.

Upon loading the game, my ping reaches 29 ms, but once inside, the experience becomes unresponsive. The latency swings between 400 ms and 6000 ms, and occasionally spikes to around 13,000 ms. When I issue a command like a move, my character doesn’t react immediately or at all, with noticeable delays. Reverting focus quickly also affects my character’s responsiveness.

While other players can play normally in the background, I’m stuck with delayed actions. Observing from another window helps—when it runs smoothly, my ping drops to 36 ms and my character follows commands promptly.

Occasionally, if I pause and reopen the game, my character responds correctly to my input. This issue appears across all online games I use, though YouTube plays fine in the background.

A speed test revealed inconsistent performance: without the game open, download speeds are 26.64 Mbps and upload at 12.84 Mbps. Inside the game window, these drop sharply to 4.41 Mbps download and 3.02 Mbps upload. This pattern has persisted for over a year, lasting as long as my PC and setup have been in use. I’ve managed to run without it for months without this problem, but it reappears suddenly. It can last from a few days to several weeks before resolving itself. The unpredictability makes it frustrating, and I’m still searching for a solution.

I’ve tried updating drivers for the Wi-Fi USB adapter, GPU, and motherboard. However, I couldn’t find a suitable Ethernet cable due to outdated port settings in my home network. I also tested a brand-new driver without any prior installation. After installing League of Legends, testing the drivers again didn’t help. I’m seeking further guidance and support.
