Generally guides you to the Steam servers for downloading the game and using the saved files, not to insert a disc anymore that I’m aware of.

You don’t need the disk installed in the driver. Just paste the code into your Rockstar Social Club account, it will be secured to your profile. Make sure to execute everything under admin settings and avoid using unusual login names on your computer.

It’s unlikely you’ll need everything at once. You’ll likely have to load all 60GB across seven discs, but you can still get a 5GB download. I’m weighing the pros and cons of getting the physical version versus downloading.
