Hi there, I'm struggling to get any progress with overclocking my 970 G1. Others have shared their experiences online, mentioning they achieved OC speeds of +87mv, 112 max power, plus 150 core clock and 2-500 mem clock. However, when I set those parameters at +130 and +200, Witcher 3 would only run for a minute before crashing, and the MSI Afterburner would report that power is constantly at max. I've tried lower OC settings but the issue persists. Do you know why this might be happening? Could it be because the G1 is already overclocked, or is there a problem with the chip itself? Thanks for any advice!
You might require more voltage or it could already be at its limit. All 970 GPU chips are unique—some have very good overclocking potential while others aren't. Your unit could be the one with a pre-existing close-to-maximum state, so it might be better to gradually increase rather than making a large jump compared to others.
Thanks for the update. It appears that a specific modification in Dark Souls 3 caused issues, but adjusting the Witcher 3 with similar changes resolved the problem. I tested Heaven with an OC of +87mv, 112% power, and a clock of +116. The memory usage was 1636MHZ and 3668MHZ, with a bench score of 1846. The FPS was 73.3, and the highest achieved was 145.7. Would you consider this performance suitable for a G1? I might increase the OC slightly to test further.
I believe I've hit my ceiling, as the last MSI afterburner stopped working. With this card, I can achieve 1635 cores and 3668 MB - is that considered acceptable for a G1? Any suggestions? Thanks!
