Hi guys,
When I choose an XPM profile 1 from my BIOS, my RAM shows 2666MHZ but it's actually running at 3000MHZ. Also, as soon as I start the XMP profile 1, my CPU jumps to 4.20 GHz from 4.00 GHz.
Here are my system details:
CPU - core i7 6700k
RAM - Gskill ripjawsv 2 x 8GB @ 3000MHZ
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5.
I'm looking for advice to set the RAM speed to its advertised rate without overclocking the CPU. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

The Gigabyte spec sheet indicates the motherboard supports RAM speeds as high as 3466 (OC). It also mentions the hope that the updated BIOS will achieve 3000 (OC).

the mobo might struggle with the ram at that speed. And the xmp setting raises your base clock on the cpu.

The motherboard might struggle with the RAM speed, and the XMP profile raises the CPU's base clock. I'm attempting to upgrade the BIOS, which claims better XMP support. Hope it functions properly.

psybronik :
the mobo might not support the ram frequency, and the xmp profile raises the base clock speed on the cpu. I'm attempting to update my BIOS which claims better xmp compatibility. Please be advised.
