So just a heads up I've been using this controller and dongle for over 3+ years and have never had issues with it or my controller. I've only noticed just recently that my dongle won't receive my controllers inputs after 10-15mins into playing a game. So here's what I do step by step: First, I insert my rechargeable batteries (I don't use the official xbox battery pack because for some reason I've had issues where the connection wouldn't keep a consistent connection with them). Second, a boot up the controller, and it connects without a hitch. Third, I boot up my game of choice. Forth, After about 10-15mins the game no longer responds to my inputs. Furthermore, the controllers light doesn't blink either (indicating it lost connection) meaning it's still connected. Fifth, (And this is the oddest to me) If I Alt+Tab out of the game and back in the controller works again. This never fails it's consistent it happens in every game I tried. I've tried updating windows, cycling the controller off/on and updating to the latest firmware, but nothing seems to work.
Uncertain if this was clear, but drivers may fail when another Bluetooth device connects to the same adapter. This could also happen with a different controller linked to another adapter, such as a phone, tablet, or laptop.
Consider trying a single setting: turn off the option that lets the computer shut down the device. This is often disabled in more secure environments. On your work machine, navigate to Device Manager, locate your controller, right-click it, go to properties, then adjust power management settings to disable that feature. Also, test the dongle on other ports or switch between USB 2.0 and 3.0 if possible. It can be frustrating, but give it a shot. Good luck!
I’ve tried this controller on our family laptop, but I often need to fix it to link it back to my gaming PC. That might be the problem.
I attempted this and it keeps occurring; I’m unsure if the dongle or the setting was the issue, but it continues.
