I also use my PS4 controller with a program. I think Xbox controllers should work fine too. Edit: I finally connected with a fellow longboarder on the forum :3

I connected the Xbox One controller and it operated perfectly—there was even a USB cable included. It would be funny if it failed when plugged in, because it needs AA batteries to work without wires.
