I purchased the Noctua NH-D15 for my system, but the setup is problematic. The motherboard layout doesn’t allow room for the RAM, and the PCIe slot is blocked by the CPU. I tried using a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot, but the PC freezes during startup with minimal fan activity and a blank screen. After replacing the CPU, everything works fine. This seems to be an issue specific to Taichi boards or a rare configuration problem.
Stock cooler temps aren't too bad; I've seen low 50s to mid-60s with a thermal grizzly on. I was planning to boost the CPU a bit for better performance in CPU-heavy games, but I'm still deciding if it's worth upgrading.
Absolutely, those performance improvements are solid and the lower temperatures are beneficial. I was considering selling the D15 model—its coolers are excellent—and using the proceeds to purchase a better fit.
I understand the concern. The Ryzen processors perform adequately, and there are many solid cooling options available. Personally, I opt for the stock Wraith Prism with a lidless 2700X. It works well, and I like having a cooler that directs air toward the board, which aids in maintaining optimal temperatures for the VRMs.
